Latest Lodge Donations

Lodge Breadalbane 657 are delighted to be able to support local youths and disadvantaged children at Aberfeldy Rugby Club with its latest donation. Aberfeldy Rugby Club Chairman Laurie Dempster told us “The future of the club depends on our ability to introduce youngsters to the benefits of playing rugby so that our senior echelon is constantly refreshed by good young players. Our Development Officer Gregor Ross runs training for youngsters every Sunday and sessions of Tartan Touch Rugby, for boys and girls of all ages on every Tuesday evening. Details are published on our Facebook page and on the Community Facebook page. We want rugby to be available to all boys and girls whatever their circumstances. No child should feel that the lack of funds or equipment debars participation: we will always ensure that all are made welcome.”

Their goals of aiming to help all comers and in particular disadvantaged children fits well with our aims and so it was agreed that Lodge Breadalbane 657 donate £500 to the club to support this programme. Presentation of the cheque was made, fittingly, under the posts on a cold November morning. Present were (Left to right) Gregor Ross, Lodge Master Pat Spicer (presenting the cheque) Lawrie Dempster, Bill Bruce (both from the Rugby club) and Ray Taylor of.657

Grand Lodge Covid-19 Challenge

Grand Lodge of Scotland has announced their Covid-19 Challenge where Grand Lodge will donate £2000 to each of the 32 Provinces in Scotland, This money is to be matched by each Province and donated to local groups and worthy causes within each Province.  In Perthshire West this means each of the 13 Lodges will be asked to nominate a group, local charity or cause to receive a £300 donation.

Lodge Breadalbane are pleased to announce they have chosen the Breadalbane Community Larder as their nominated

charity.  The Community Larder was set up by Local churches realising there would be an increased need to support people struggling with the financial impact of COVID-19 so they set up a Community Larder to provide basic food supplies. The Larder is operating out of the Church of Scotland in Aberfeldy but serves the wider Breadalbane area from Kenmore to Grandtully and northwards to Glen Lyon. Volunteers deliver food direct to the doors of those who might otherwise manage but are now finding it a real struggle to make ends.

Lodge 657 matched the £500 received from Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire West's recent West to East charity walk, this enabled us to present Aberfeldy First Responders and Dementia Friendly Aberfeldy each with a cheque for £500. The First Responders will use the donation to replace vital supplies for their packs whilst the Dementia Friendly Aberfeldy Group plan to plant bulbs and spring plants in the Dementia Friendly Garden at the Fire Station. Both groups are a great asset to the Town
